One of the more amazing things that separated this department from others was the almost inability to get fired. Even after phone list of men that had been caught up in the collection scandals, guys continued to take money on a regular basis. After Jack left for Queens he never even had a chance to collect money. But, because of the higher income of the people living in the neighborhood Jack's booty was in the form of household items. His commute was cut in half. His seniority didn't mean is much because many other men had made the move toward the suburbs.

But the shorter time spent on the Long Island Expressway (the world's longest parking lot) made all the difference in the world. From his new area Jack heard about all the guys that got caught this time. Goody had wised up, via final notice from his wife, and moved his act to Staten Island. Jack never saw him again. Yasso, party of the third part, had a home in upstate New York. Bailey with almost 20 years on the job had only his pension to lose. By now Tony had maybe six years. The story goes like this:

The dumpster at the construction site was running over. As the crews went by following their daily routine they were approached by someone who wanted the place cleaned up a bit. Two or three different crews came by at different times and were paid accordingly. Ordinarily it would've worked perfectly, but someone, either the builders or someone was being investigated by the FBI. The worker who contacted the crews was, you guessed it, an undercover agent. He had to show where the money had been spent. So inadvertently the crews became pawns in this complicated game of chess.

Again in a setup that would've made Francis Ford Coppola envious they had these guys on film. Bailey probably in never ever thought of his height being a real advantage until now. All the other guys had to go. Despite how hard it was to get fired. These pictures didn't lie. The even the FBI screws up now and then. The camera was set at a normal angle to get faces of normal guys. However Bailey at 6 ft. 7 in. face was not or could not be scene (pun intended). They knew it was Bailey by his voice  but couldn't prove it. This alone saved Bailey's pension.
